Code Super Powers helps inspire a diverse generation of innovators with game-based STEAM experiences that teach young people how to participate in the creation of technology.

Washington, DC – June 22, 2021 – Making a significant commitment of $100 million to help eradicate systemic injustice across several industries, Comcast RISE named Code Super Powers as a 2021 RISE Award honoree. This award will make Code Super Powers the First Diverse-Owned Youth-Focused STEAM Platform to partner with the program. Additionally, Code Super Powers is the first coding platform to team up with Horton’s Kids and other community development organizations to provide accessible technology camps nationwide.

Providing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Arts) programs to young people ages 6 – 16; Code Super Powers is excited to work with Comcast, seeking to open the flood gates to technology opportunities.

Taught via instructor-led courses and direct mentorship from coding tutors, Code Super Powers takes a holistic approach to education by addressing the trifecta of career development through technology literacy, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.

Fundamental courses from Code Super Powers include:

  • Technology Literacy – Learning to code through game-based lessons increases confidence, creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Financial Literacy – Students learn the fundamentals of saving, investing, debt, and credit leveraging. They receive practical tools, including mobile applications, to help them avoid financial pitfalls and illuminate the path to prosperity.
  • Entrepreneurship – Research shows that 93% of successful entrepreneurs started their business journeys as children. Code Super Powers’ Business Startup Camps help young people discover how technology and startups are integrally connected.

“Code Super Powers is thrilled to work with Comcast and take vital steps toward closing the digital divide in the U.S. The problem wasn’t a lack of interest from black and brown communities, only a lack of access,” said Matt Evans, Founder of Code Super Powers. “Exposure is key. Our gamified coding curriculum ignites the imagination and inspires young Code Heroes to reach beyond the implied limitations imposed by systemic inequality.”

Providing hope, coupled with the most sought-after 21st-century skillset, is how Code Super Powers plans to uplift communities. Technology impacts daily life on every level, and early exposure to coding literacy prepares communities for high-demand, lucrative opportunities.

Throughout the 2021-22 school year, schools and districts will have the opportunity to partner with Code Super Powers providing their students with continuous STEAM opportunities that will boost college and career readiness.

Schools and community-driven organizations will have access to live online technology courses and receive performance reports to increase student’s mastery of coding and raise academic achievement.

In addition to year-round programming, Code Super Powers provides Summer Tech Camps offering fun weekly courses in arcade game development, mobile app design, animation, Roblox development, Minecraft Modding, JavaScript, Python coding, and more through July and August.
