Accelerating Neuroscience Research with Products for Neural Cell Markers from Creative Biolabs

Neurons are the basic signaling components of the brain. Neuroglial cells or glial cells provide supporting functions to the nervous system. Consequently, understanding how the brain works depends to a large extent on the study of neural cell types with different functions. Neural cell markers allow detection and identification of cells by different techniques, which can help neuroscientists study more neurological diseases.

New York, USA – September 17, 2021 – In fact, the understanding of the cell types that make up the central nervous system (CNS) is very much shaped by the markers available to identify them. Neural cell markers include neuronal and non-neuronal cells markers, astrocyte markers, and oligodendrocyte markers. Scientists at Creative Biolabs provide researchers with antibody products targeting different proteins based on designated neural cell markers selected by clients, to help them conduct preclinical neuroscience research.

* Glial Cell Markers

Glial cells, sometimes called neuroglia are non-neuronal cells that maintain homeostasis, form myelin, and provide support and protection for neurons in the brain and peripheral nervous system. Glial cells express unique sets of transcription factors, enzymes, cytoskeletal proteins and receptors. Studies on complex glial cell types and cell structures require a variety of life science research products.

* Astrocyte Markers

Astrocytes are a sub-type of glial cells in the central nervous system. They have been identified as being dysfunctional in some neurodegenerative diseases, such as Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

* Neural Crest Stem Cell Markers

The neural crest cells (NCCs) have been shown to possess the key hallmarks of stem and progenitor cells because of their ability to self-renew and differentiate. NCCs have been widely studied in animal models to elucidate their role in a range of neurocristopathies involving the craniofacial skeleton and the peripheral nervous system. In addition, studies have shown that abnormal neural crest development can cause neuro spinal neuropathy, including frontal nose dysplasia, Waardenburg-Shah syndrome and DiGeorge syndrome.

* Neuroepithelial Markers

Neuroepithelial (NE) cells are symmetrically dividing cells that form the neural plate and neural tube during embryonic development. Studies have shown that NE cells can be used to study a number of diseases, such as dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor (DNT), neuroepithelial cysts, and oligodendroglial tumors.

“The use of appropriate markers to detect neural cells is an important step for researchers to study various neurological diseases, as these markers can assess the functions of cells in normal conditions as well as during disease and repair processes,” said a scientist at Creative Biolabs. “We are very pleased to provide a series of research reagents needed to study the function of neural cells.”
