The Grand Success of Luxury Symposium 2022 takes the Brand India to Global Frontier

The 6th Luxury Symposium 2022 was held from March 26 to March 27 and was a flagship event this year. The Symposium, which started in 2016, was hosted by The Luxury League Foundation. This Event is a forum for dialogue regarding the impacts of Luxury on the global market and strengthening the Influence of India in the Global Market. This year’s event showcased a high enthusiastic crowd which commissioned a new gain of confidence and encouraged others to promote Brand India to a global level.

The Luxury Symposium commenced on March 26, 2022, with the Minister of Culture and External Affairs, Meenakshi Lekhi, collectively encouraging the idea to promote Brand India with the help of leaders and Industry Experts. The Event was initiated at 6 PM by a very warm speech by the emcee and Ms. Ritu Beri, a fashion designer who talked briefly about The Luxury League, mentioned that today, the world admires and covers everything Indian. The ideals of compassion, sustainability, Luxury, and craftsmanship have also transformed into the mainstream. Yet, there is no holistic global branding of India’s authentic treasures. 

The Luxury Symposium commenced on March 26, 2022, with the Minister of Culture and External Affairs, Meenakshi Lekhi, saying this Event was a curtain-raiser to several events held in the future.

The Luxury Symposium is the Event by fashion designer Ritu Beri’s Global Foundation, The Luxury League, which commissioned its existence to establish and promote Luxury, strengthening India’s influence in the Global Luxury industry and inducing a creative environment that commences ideas and creativity. The 6th Edition of The Luxury Symposium was to showcase Indian Heritage as a Luxury Brand and begin a new initiative that speaks volumes about Indian Heritage being a bigger brand than any other.

This year, the Luxury Symposium was a two-day event consisting of discussions and debates by eminent personalities in the luxury industry. On the first day, there were discussions on the theme of “Luxury, Beauty and Nation’s Branding.” A panel discussion with eminent personalities from the luxury industry followed by honoring the Powerful Parcos Women. Day 1 concluded with a Fashion Show curated by Ritu Beri.

The Event’s chief guest, Ms.Meenakshi Lekhi, felicitated the event partner to promote the sense of encouragement to bring in more events like this to promote Indian culture and Heritage. The highlighting factor of associating this particular Event with the Cultural Ministry was to present itself as a curtain-raiser to several events held short. There is a high need to claim and promote that it was the right place if one wanted to see diversity. There were people of every religion in every city, yet everyone was one.

In her warm speech, appreciating the initiative taken by the eminent Fashion Designer Ritu Beri who is also the founder of the Luxury Leagues, the not-for-profit organization that commences The Luxury Symposium every year, the hon’ble Minister said

“We are the blessed ones who can have the Luxury of enjoying the luxury symposium; an event like this is the start of an event chain. As Ritu said, this is a curtain-raiser for events that are coming in the future very shortly because I’m sure this curtain-raiser will give an insight into what India has to offer”. – Meenakshi Lekhi, Hon’ble Minister of Culture and External Affairs 

Ritu Beri, the Founder of The Luxury League, spoke about the importance of promoting the soft power of brand India, at The Luxury Symposium 2022, in Goa.

The Luxury League is an attempt to promote the Heritage of the culture we follow. At this year’s Luxury Symposium held in Goa, several leading Indian brands, designers and entrepreneurs will explore these issues from various perspectives and panel discussions. An illustrious gathering of industry leaders, economists, and eminent personalities attended the Luxury Symposium at Goa’s Hilton Goa Resort. Ms. and her team welcomed the group and commissioned the initiation of the Event. The Symposium commenced with a panel discussion on “The Changing Face of Beauty As Luxury & The Role of Luxury in A Nation’s Branding.”

Shazia Ilmi, an Indian Politician who was earlier a Television Journalist and the National Spokesperson for BJP, was the event moderator. Commencing the panel discussion, she stated that “this is the land of beauty and Luxury. It’s time we look at the ancient image that has been sold out for so many years and banded around.”

This year’s Event was indeed an international event, gaining panels such as Queen Diambi, the Queen of Congo, and Paulo Gomes, who came all the way from Portuguese. Along with the idea to promote Luxury and Indian Influence, this year’s Event appreciated the Parcos Women of Goa, gaining another motive that many will admire to appreciate the women’s contribution worldwide.

HRH Queen Diambi Kabatusuila Tshiyoyo Muata, the queen of an Empire in the Democratic Republic of Congo, graced the panel. The moderator Shazia Ilmi asked her royal highness what Luxury means to her and how it can be used to preserve the art and craft and take the message across so that it permeates. Her Royal Highness answered that and presented her warm thanks to Ms. Ritu Beri and the team to provide her the opportunity to come to India for the very first time.

Her Royal Highness said that she shared the same motives to promote her culture worldwide. She talked about the pearls she was wearing and how they were a part of her culture. She stated that there was no need to apologize for being African, which was true for too long. Africa’s all riches were taken away, even though there was still a lot under the earth, and the continent had not been given any credit. She expressed her wish to combine all of our efforts in branding India and hold this luxury symposium, and she will be more than eager to assist the nation in becoming the world’s focus. She said that India had numerous masters who led the path of spirituality for thousands of years.

Further, the panel discussion moved forward to Ms. Rina Shah’s views. A designer who has been in the business for twenty years said everything moved online. She talked about her experience selling luxury goods online, 

“Everything, even the sale of luxury products, sank in Covid’s first year. It was a time of ambiguity. Luxury products had a difficult second year, and everyone went online. She claimed that while Europe accounted for 30% of all luxury sales today, India saw many activities. According to the prediction, it was expected to expand by 30%.” – Rina Shah, Founder of Rinaldi Designs

This, she explained, was owing to a massive backlog of orders. Anyone with a salary of fifty lakhs or more was purchasing Luxury. The second change was that Luxury could no longer afford to be wasteful; it needed to be sustainable. Paulo Gomes, a Portuguese visitor, also talked during the panel discussion and shared his views on Luxury. He was the founder and curator of Green Circle – Sustainable Textile and Fashion in Portugal and the former Creative Director of Lisbon Fashion Week.

The Symposium ended on March 27 with every razzmatazz possible. The Luxury League is a Not-for-Profit Foundation, India’s first most powerful & influential platform for branding culture as Luxury engaged in branding India globally. The foundation serves as a standard-bearer to promote Indian arts, crafts, and Heritage and is a global ambassador for Indian culture. The foundation also aims to create an environment conducive to creative thinking through dialogue and exchange of ideas amongst like-minded people, purveyors of Luxury, global decision-makers, and the Government.

The Symposium commenced a new initiative to bring together a consortium of decision-makers, artisans, craftsmen, global corporate brands, consumers, and the Government to come together on the same platform to re-imagine the connotations of Luxury in a global context and will continue to do so in other symposiums possible.
