Burundi Hospital To Sign MoU With Naruvi Hospitals Soon: Burundi Ambassador

International Nurses Day Observed!

VELLORE – MAY 12, 2022 – Reflecting the increasing bilateral cooperation between India and Burundi, a Central African republic, an important Medical Department of the Vellore-based multi-specialty Naruvi Hospitals would be established at the Government Hospital in Burundi. 

An MoU between Burundi Hospital and Naruvi Hospitals for the purpose will be signed soon, the Burundian Ambassador to India, Ms. Stella Budiriganya disclosed here today, participating in a function at Naruvi Hospitals to celebrate the ‘International Nurses Day’. It is to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, founder of Modern Nursing observed every year on May 12. 

Inaugurating the celebrations by lighting a traditional lamp in the presence of the Naruvi Hospitals Chairman, Dr. G.V. Sampath who presided, Ms. Stella Budriganya who was the special guest of honour on the occasion, lauded the Nurses who work tirelessly with dedication and excellence to save the lives of people worldwide.

Stating that the International Council of Nurses commemorated this important day every year on May 12 in recognition of the splendid services done by Nurses imbued with compassion for the suffering people, Ms. Stella said she was happy to be part of the celebrations at Naruvi Hospitals this year. 

The Ambassador said Burundi had good relationships with several countries including India, Indonesia and Singapore. Underscoring that India had excellent medical facilities and hospitals where treatment is being given based on precise diagnostics and testing, the Government Hospital at Burundi was also providing very good medical services to its people. The Burundi Hospital required more doctors and nurses and “we are taking steps to source them from several countries including India,” Ms. Stella said. 

Stating that she has been serving in India for the last five years, Ms. Stella said the language and culture of the people of Tamil Nadu was particularly impressive and unique. It is a matter of pride that Tamils are so deeply attached to their language, Ms. Stella said, adding, she was happy that her son had completed his graduation studies from an educational institution in Tamil Nadu. 

The Burundi Ambassador who took the opportunity to go around and see the various departments and facilities at Naruvi Hospitals, noted that they were excellent and of a high order. Ms. Stella also interacted with the patients undergoing treatment at the hospital. She earlier gave away the medals and certificates to winners of various competitions including essay and poster-writing. Naruvi Hospitals Staff Nurse Ms. Tarakeshwari welcomed the impressive gathering. 

The Naruvi Hospitals here is a state-of-the art multi super-specialty healthcare facility, set up in a unique, technical and knowledge-sharing partnership with the Henry Ford Health Systems, USA. 

The Vice-Chairperson of Naruvi Hospitals, Ms. Anitha Sampath, Executive Director, Dr. Paul Henry, Chief of Medical Services, Dr. Aravindan Nair, Naruvi Hospitals’ Medical Superintendent Dr. Jacob Jose, Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Manimaran, Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Venkatrangam, and General Manager, Mr. Nitin Sampath, besides nurses, medical specialists, doctors and para-medical staff were among those who participated in the function. Ms. Clara Vinnarasi, a staff nurse of the Naruvi Hospitals proposed a hearty vote of thanks.
