To Be Creative in Chengdu, The 6th Chengdu Creativity & Design Week Will Open on Nov. 8

On November 4, 2019, the press conference of the 6th Chengdu Creativity & Design Week is held. Hosted by Chengdu Municipal People’s Government and Chengdu Culture, Radio and TV, Press & Publication Bureau, the 6th Chengdu Creativity & Design Week themed by “To be Creative in Chengdu” will be held from Nov. 8 to 11 at Chengdu Century City International Convention and Exhibition Center.

During the past five years, Chengdu Creativity & Design Week has attracted more than 2 million visitors and become one of the top cultural creativity activities across China.

This year, it will mainly hold Golden Panda Tianfu Design Award, Chengdu Creative Design Industry Exhibition and iF Chengdu Creative Design Forum. Meanwhile, other activities will be organized, including “Tour in Trendy Chengdu”, Meeting to Invite Investments and Golden Panda Creativity Talents Training 2019.

 

Becoming a WDO Member

During the Week, the World Design Organization (WTO) will officially announce Chengdu Creativity & Design Week as a member of the organization.

The Golden Panda Tianfu Design Award has collected 4,200 works, 912 of which are from designers outside China, accounting for 20% of all. Covering an area of 45,000 square meters, the Chengdu Creative Design Industry Exhibition will be divided into different sections to exhibit works of different themes, including Industrial Creative Design, Fashion (Living) Creative Design, Culture and Tourism Creative Design and Digital Creative Design. 20,000 designs provided by over 700 institutions will be exhibited. Creative designs from America, Russia, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Britain, Finland, Australia will be unveiled at the exhibition.

In addition, the iF Chengdu Creative Design Forum of this year will invite important people of the international design community, including Alexandra Klatt, Curator of the Berlin Design Week, Pichit Virankabutra, General Manger of Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC), Kimitaka Kato, CDO of Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP), Kari Korkman, Founder and CEO of Helsinki Design Week, Jackson Tan, Creative Director of BALCK, and Zuzanna Skalska, Founding Partner of 360Inspiration.

By now, people coming from over 30 countries and regions have applied and more than 400 important guests are expected to attend. Furthermore, 30-odd world-famous institutions and companies will take part in the Week for the first time.

 

15 Designs Win iF Design Award 2019

Architectural Association (AA) School of Architecture, DuPont, iF Design Award, Hong Kong Federation of Design Associations, Huawei Honor, Rococo, Artop Group, Blackant Design, Kungfu Animation Group, and Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology will bring their trendy designs to Chengdu.

It is worth mentioning that 15 winners of the iF Design Award this year will be displayed in “Chengdu Section”, an area specially set up at the Chengdu Creative Design Industry Exhibition.

At least 10 designs that have had their copyrights registered in Chengdu will be selected from previous prize winners which are welcomed by the public since they have gone into production and been available for purchase. They will become the products of “Tianfu Memory·Chengdu Gift” and be promoted across the world as Chengdu name cards.

Additionally, iF Chengdu Creative Design Forum will take “creative city” as the main theme and hold discussions from three aspects, namely creative living trends, creative living industry and trends and fashion design. It aims at navigating lecturers and audience in creative design trends.

Sharing Chengdu Living Aesthetics with the World

The theme of “To Be Creative in Chengdu” is expressed in different ways by combing daily elements with the Week. The Fashion Creative Design Award is established at the Golden Panda Tianfu Creativity Design Award for the first time; Fashion (Living) Creativity Design section is built at the Chengdu Creative Design Industry Exhibition; Living Aesthetics Forum is added to the iF Chengdu Creative Design Forum; Fashion Night 2019 will be held with L’OFFICIEL. They work together to convey the living aesthetics of Chengdu, which focus on creativity, originality, elegance and fashion. 

The 6th Chengdu Creativity & Design Week launches “Tour in Trendy Chengdu” with Chengdu greenways as the core. By exploring 10 choice tour routes themed by museums, ancient towns and rural areas and 100 internet celebrity landmarks of cultural tourism, citizens and tourists can embrace the charm and new scenes of Chengdu greenways that are designed for “reading, perceiving, enjoying, participating and consuming”.
