Recently, following the release of the MEMS chip “Wugee”, FATRI released a series of ASIC chips, named “Taywal”, which regulate piezoelectric signals and will empower the MEMS chip “Wugee”.

“Taywal” is an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) analog chip based on charge amplifier application, which is manufactured by a 0.5mm CMOS high voltage BCD process.  It can be integrated with a piezoelectric sensor and has the characteristics of wide frequency bandwidth, high sensitivity, high signal-to-noise ratio, simple structure, reliable operation and light weight.  “Taywal” is small size, highly integrated, and it can achieve BOM cost optimization to meet the markets demand for sensor product applications.

After “Taywal” is encapsulated as a piezoelectric sensor, its sensitivity, frequency response, sensitivity amplitude linearity and lateral sensitivity ratios are qualified after being tested and certified by the China Ceprei Laboratory.  Its specific test indicators are as follows:

The characteristics of the “Taywal” chip are as follows:

• Operating voltage: 18V ~ 24V.

• Excitation current: 2mA ~ 10mA.

• Output voltage: 12.5V ±5V.

• Output resistance: 100 Ω.

• Frequency response: 0.5Hz ~ 50kHz.

• Support for integrated electronics piezoelectric sensors (IEPE).

• Working temperature range: -40 ℃ ~ 125 ℃.

• ESD: HBM-2000V & MM-200.

“Taywal” can be applied to the signal processing of an electronic control module, algorithm operation and control execution unit used for automatic parking in self-driving, starting, airbags, radar signal analysis, etc.

Taywal‘s AmbitionTo help FATRI empower the global enterprises

As an advanced solution service provider for sensors and MEMS modules of Internet of things sensing systems, FATRI has a full range of capabilities in chip and sensor material synthesis, designing, manufacturing, packaging and testing.

In today’s digital age, everything is interconnected.  The Internet of things concept can be divided into five parts: perception layer, acquisition layer, transport layer, application layer and terminal layer.  The perception layer is the core of the Internet of things concept.  As cutting-edge technology of modern science and technology, sensors are considered as one of the three pillars of the modern information and technology age. If a sensor is strong, the automation industry is strong.

“Taywal” has extremely low drive current, which will greatly reduce the size of the sensor and will be used in the piezoelectric sensors and system solutions independently developed by FATRI.  It can be widely used in industries such as; industrial equipment, consumer electronics, rail transit, wind power generation, intelligent medical products and many other fields.

The picture of “Taywal”

The development of “Taywal” comes from the strong technical strength of FATRI.  The MEMS high-end sensor and chip manufacturing base, which is China’s advanced MEMS device processing platform of FATRI UTC in Quanzhou, has a 6,000 ㎡ high cleanroom workshop with a 8″ down compatible 6″ MEMS intelligent sensor chip production line.  The high-grade cleanroom workshop is fully equipped with advanced manufacturing, packaging and testing equipment, such Silicon deep etching, bonding , photo etching, AFM, scanning electron microscope, step profiler, high-low temperature chamber, three integrated box, laser bonding, high sintering, crystal growth, package and test equipment.

ASIC chips involve many disciplines and technologies, such as electronics, machinery, materials, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and so on.  The shortage of talents is the biggest roadblock restricting the development of ASIC chips for most companies, but FATRI has a broad base of highly qualified scientific research strength.  Since its establishment, FATRI has attracted some of the most outstanding talents in the fields of; material science, theoretical physics, microelectronics, control theory, signal processing and system analysis.  FATRI has an outstanding team of scientists and engineers, more than 90% of whom are PhDs.  They have the full range of education and experience capabilities in the development, design, manufacture, packaging and testing of MEMS chips, materials and sensors.

Founder Bill Nie holds Doctor of Science, Engineering and MBA degrees who has been engaged in the chip and sensor industry for over 21 years.  Dr. Nie strongly believes that we are in a transformation period of the fourth industrial revolution, that is, the age of intelligence, and the development and progress of sensors is the core technology to promote the fourth industrial revolution generation.  The difference between smart products and traditional products is that smart products embed sensors based on traditional products, combining operating systems, cloud computing and artificial intelligence algorithms, resulting in truly “smart” products.

The strategic map of FATRI is emerging.

FATRI is firmly committed to the control and monitoring of civil aviation, offshore ships, petroleum, petrochemical, wind power, rail transition, industrial equipment, health care and traffic safety.  FATRI is focus based on the core technologies of perception and artificial intelligence, including advanced material technology, advanced chip technology, advanced sensing technology and artificial intelligence algorithm technology to help global enterprises transition from the information age to the intelligent era.

At present, FATRI has established a systematic solution of material-perception-gateway-cloud-platform-application integration.  Using the FATRI Health Monitoring System as an example, it adopts an advanced sensor measurement system to provide data acquisition and analysis means for monitoring signals such as temperature, pressure, vibration and lubricating oils of large-scale machines running on-line and provides data support for equipment condition monitoring and fault diagnosis.  In this system, the tested information is further processed and analyzed by the intelligent analysis (AI) software and the operation of the equipment is analyzed and judged according to the intelligent algorithm and the maintenance information is predicted and is fed back in real-time.

At present, a series of solutions have been established, such as FATRI + civil aviation, FATRI + industry, FATRI + elevator, FATRI + electric power, FATRI + rail transit and so on.  The FATRI elevator health monitoring system has been in commercial use on a large scale and has been installed in Fujian Province and other regions in an orderly manner.  The FATRI Health Monitoring System has served many customers of some of the Top 500 enterprises in the world.  The FATRI Smart Power System, FATRI Road and Bridge Condition Detection System, FATRI Cooperative Vehicle Infrastructure System, FATRI Self-Driving System and FATRI Smart medical systems will also be launched soon.

It is the year of the “core” of FATRI, “Wugee” and “Taywal” are a crystallization of its effort over the past few years.  FATRI will soon launch a series of high-temperature, medium-temperature and normal atmospheric temperature chips one after another to provide solutions from chip to cloud platform for the IoT industry, covering the perception layer, acquisition layer, application layer and terminal layer of the Internet of things concept, providing customers with an end-to-end integrated solution, making the Internet of things something that everyone can use leading civil aviation, offshore ships, petroleum and petrochemical, wind power generation, rail transit, health care, transportation and industrial fields into the intelligent era.
